The most valuable of the Aguaje is its fruit, because it is rich in phytoestrogens, vitamins and minerals that benefits the internal and external health of our body.
The main components are, Beta carotene (Provitamin A), Tocopherols (Vitamin E) and Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
The pulp only represents 12% of the total weight of the fruit but it has a high content of lipids (21 to 31%) as well as essential fatty acids.
High content of pro vitamin A (beta carotene, 30-300 mg / 100 g9 in pulp, the oil represents the highest content of vitamin A in the world. It regulates content of vitamins B, C and other important minerals, but there is much variability in these nutritional contents between fruit and fruit. The fleshy part of the fruits is generally consumed raw by the locals and is a very good food, due to its calorie content (283 kcal / 100 g), protein (8.20g / 100g), oils ( 31g / 100g), carbohydrates (18.70g / 100g), mineral salts (calcium, phosphorus and iron), vitamins (A, B1, B2, B5, C) and iodine.
